April 2009

I decided to go on tour again after Easter and studied the map for a circular route somewhere in the Scottish Isles out of Oban.

Mull seemed a good choice with all routes requiring several ferry crossings which would add interest. In order to avoid the same ferry twice, I decided to cycle round to Tobermory, cross over to Ardnamurchan and then use the Isle of Lismore as a short cut, avoiding busy roads back to Oban. The weather forecast was looking unusually pleasant with big suns and a lightish easterly wind so all was set.

I knew from the map that this would be a much more testing tour than the Outer Hebrides, with several steep climbs on Mull and Ardnamurchan. With this in mind, I packed light.
